Easy Whole Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

Whole wheat buttermilk pancakes

When trying to improve healthy eating habits, I try to use whole wheat as much as possible. These pancakes have now become Sunday morning tradition enjoyed by 3 generations.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup whole wheat four
  2. 2 tsp sugar
  3. pinch of salt
  4. 1/4 tsp baking soda
  5. 1/2 tsp baking powder
  6. 1 cup buttermilk
  7. 1 egg
  8. Butter for greasing the pan
Directions:
  • In a medium bowl mix all dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, baking power and baking soda)
  • Wisk together 1 cup of buttermilk with one egg
  • Combine dry ingredients with buttermilk mixture and mix well (some small lumps are ok)
  • Melt butter in non stick frying pan on medium low heat
  • Spoon pancake batter in the pan when it is hot
  • Flip when bubbles appear on the sides
  • Serve with maple syrup
Cook small pancakes until bubble apear, then flip

Note:

Small pancakes work as a perfect size for 5 year old grand-daughter
